The Position

The mission for the General Manager of Sales is to work with Inspire’s sales leadership team to implement the Inspire local model in the Pittsburgh market, continue building out the purpose-driven sales team, and grow the business to have a massive impact.  Do this by establishing new member acquisition channels in Retail Stores, at Community Events, and directly to Small and Medium Businesses.  A strong candidate is an experienced leader of face-to-face sales or grassroots field-based teams, operates well independently and has a ton of entrepreneurial drive.  This role isn’t for everyone, but if you are a builder and thrive working at a hyper-fast pace, we hope you’ll reach out!

Responsibilities

  • City Manager: On-the-ground leader for the Pittsburgh market with a focus on hiring, managing and empowering the local field team and working closely with Marketing, Product, People Ops and other teams across Inspire to maximize our local impact
  • Launch & Scale Sales Channels: Create a strong presence for Inspire in the market by developing a plan to integrate multiple member acquisition channels, partnerships and local PR, networking and recruiting opportunities
  • City Operations: As the city lead, also responsible for operational excellence including clear, scalable processes, insightful analytics and Inspire business practices (office operations, technology, team culture and communications)
  • Planning & Performance: Generate and submit sales forecasts, reports, and insights to the head of sales and other key stakeholders

Qualifications

  • You have at least 3-5 years of experience in sales management or business development, local/grassroots marketing leadership, or remote market management, and preferably a Bachelor’s degree in Management, Marketing or a related area
  • You have proven experience directly leading large remote teams including hiring, firing, performance management, and coaching, etc.
  • You’re passionate about leading a high-performing sales team that thrives on culture and employee engagement
  • You have early stage company/startup experience, or have worked in a high-volume consumer services business (Smart Home/IoT, Energy, Solar, Telecom, etc.)
  • You’re a natural leader and a fluent business operator with a passion for world-class culture
  • You’re passionate, relentless, and humble and believe almost anything can be accomplished
  • You care deeply about delivering an amazing experience for customers, and are obsessively creative, accountable and consistent in doing so
  • You make data-driven decisions and have  sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking
  • You have a 'get shit done' attitude and are resourceful
  • You are very energetic, outgoing and communicative, and ready to spend a good amount of your time in the field training and coaching your team, speaking to the public and driving BIG results!
